upset with city bagel
I was really upset yesterday with city bagel. Several people have asked why.
At 12:50 I call in to order a hummus sandwhich to go, all veggies, no condiments, no cheese. It’s the same to-go order I make at least once a week exactly. I get there and they are slow to get it out to me and slow to take my money. After they call my name I have to stand there for 4 minutes before someone hands me the bag on the other side of the counter. I look in and they don’t have the cookie, so I have to wait in the order line again and ask for the cookie from the person. It’s okay, they’re probably understaffed.
I go out and then think to look at the sandwhich… it’s got mayonaisse all over it (really gross looking hummus sandwhich). I go back in and wait to tell them it’s not what I ordered (that I explicitly said no condiments), and they say the’ll fix it. It usually takes them 10 minutes to make a call-in order. I’m guessing since they are fixing a goof, they’ll bump it up to be faster. After waiting about 15 minutes or so, I finally think to ask. I wait for 2 minutes before they come ask me why I’m waiting at the pick-up order. She says they’re working on it and have a lot of orders.
I wait for five more minutes and decide since I still don’t see them preparing it, I’ll go ask for a refund. While waiting in the order-line for a refund, they ask me if it’s okay if they switch my bread because they are out of the one I ordered. 20 minutes later (after I had already waited longer than normal once for them to mess up my order). I tell them forget it and ask for a refund, which they give. The person giving my refund is one of the sandwhich makers who says that she forgot about my order.
I was super upset in part because I was tired from the previous night, and not wanting to wait in lines. I placed a to-go order expecting to pick-it up and leave because I wanted to get to the airport and not wait around for 30 minutes. I’ve done this once a week this semester, exact same order, with no problems.
I was upset at the lack of apologies along the way. A simple, sorry it’s slow, we’re busy right now. A sorry your order was wrong, we’ll work on it asap or something. And I really didn’t appreciate the statement of we’re working on it when it actuality they had forgotten it. I could have kept sitting there forever.
